Digital Marketing … it’s Not Optional

How do you market yourself or your company? Are you still cold calling? Yellow Pages? Direct mail? I owned a Handyman franchise back in 2003 and all we had to do was place a nice display ad in the Yellow Pages and we had plenty of business. The digital marketing we did was to list ourselves with service that was like Angie’s List and we would purchase leads from them. Fast forward to 2018 and the dominance of Google and Yelp and now when I key in handyman (city) into the search bar I get back 82 results for my local area and the results are all internet listing services except for position one which is a held by a local handyman company who is clearly aware of how to take advantage of digital marketing because he also gets the knowledge panel.

If you want to get business from the internet, you must either learn how to do it … or, hire someone to do it for you. If you don’t want to get lost in the internet listing services, you will need to take advantage of digital marketing.
